Sometimes ya gotta wonder….
How our lives turned out, sometimes feels like a blunder!
Remembering childhood memories when life was simple;
Conversation was about how cute you were and that ya had a dimple!
Childhood memories weren’t about the Internet or a video game;
It was about collecting colorful stones down a country road, and staying inside was nothing but lame!
Games were about hide n seek and makin sure the counter never would peek!
I remember exploring the country side, riding horseback and chasing a rabbit!
Watching the clouds and the storms rolling in became my favorite past time habit!
Life was simple back then;
Chores were hard but worth getting the eggs from the old clucking hen.
Life was about making things stretch and last;
Growing out own garden;
And eating watermelon was a blast!
It was about the changing seasons;
going swimming at our favorite lake….to stay cool, we had our reasons!
Family was close and we did things always together, to church, vacations and shopping, even despite the weather!
Walking down memory lane;
I remember growing things;
Plants and flowers and a 90 lb squash, that was something insane!
It was about going fishing with dad;
using every earthworm we had!
It was waking up to our first snow;
Having snowball fights and making a snowman before the sunshine’s glow!
I remember my first love from girl’s first kiss;
Those were the days I surely remember and miss!
Life was always about growing and learning;
Working with Dad in the shop;
Sometimes hard and muscles burning.
Those memories still fresh from yesterday like the smell of homemade hot apple pie!
So count your blessings and be grateful….. Life’s a treasure and gift- so never ask why!!
